The Eagles traveled to New Hamburg
Thursday evening to face the Huskies for the final time in the regular season.
It was a tight contest until the final 3 minutes when the Huskies pulled away
and won 4-1.
The Eagles started a little slow, but got into the game after a few minutes. They had some good scoring opportunities that missed the net. The Eagles defense once again had a good game clearing the puck away from danger zones and stopping breakaway rushes. However it was the Huskies that opened the scoring in the first. The score stayed 1-0 through the second period as the Huskies goalie and Jack R. matched big save for big save. The Eagles were able to tie it up with 5 minutes left in the game on a great rush and deke by Jake. Two minutes later everything unraveled. The Eagles were called for a slashing penalty, there was an issue with the referees, and the Huskies rattled off 3 straight goals to win the game. It was a disappointing end to an entertaining competitive game for the Eagles, but all of this will be forgot as Santa will be in town this weekend and the kids can enjoy some time away from the rink. Happy Holidays to everyone!
