Congratulations Ryan on signing with the Guelph Storm

(Guelph) General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett announced today that the Guelph Storm have received a commitment from Ryan McGuire and his family and have signed a Standard Player Agreement with the club.

McGuire, a 5’10″, 174 lbs forward from Burlington was the Storm’s 3rd round pick (56th overall) in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection.“Ryan’s outstanding compete level, work habits, attitude and willingness to play in all the difficult areas on the ice were the qualities that separated him each night,” Burnett said. Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Nico Daws of the Guelph Storm is the inaugural recipient of the Jim Rutherford Trophy awarded annually to the OHL’s Goaltender of the Year.

The top-ranked North American goaltender on NHL Central Scouting’s Final Draft Rankings, Daws led the League with a .924 save percentage and five shutouts, posting a 2.48 goals-against average and 23-8-3-3 record over 38 games for the defending OHL champions.

With his name already being mentioned in the same sentence as NHL stars John Tavares and Connor McDavid, forward Shane Wright could have buckled to the pressure in his first season with the Kingston Frontenacs.

Wright instead found a way to deal with the white noise surrounding him and played beyond his age, and on Thursday was awarded for his exceptional season by being named Ontario Hockey League rookie of the year.   Read More

Dear Eagles Athletes, Parents, and Families, 

First and foremost, I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during this challenging time.   This is a unique and difficult period that has brought a sudden end to the 2019-2020 hockey season. With this abrupt ending to the hockey season, hockey tryouts, spring hockey, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse have all been cancelled or postponed. 

Many of our Eagle athletes and parents are wondering what to do without sports and physical activity. The Burlington City Rep Hockey Club believes this is a time where we can step up and support our athletes and family members during this time of isolation.
