OT Again with Oakville
In the last game of the 2016/2017 season for the Novice A Eagles they faced the Oakville Rangers at home. The Eagles still had a shot at the Tri-County Finals if they won this last game and Milton lost their two remaining games. This game also decided if the Eagles would have a winning season record or not. So lots to play for and they did just that, playing hard all game and coming out on top 3-2 in overtime.

Both teams matched up well with speed, aggressiveness, and great goaltending. The first period was a wash until the Rangers got a shot off with 0.3 seconds left in the period that beat Jack over the glove. Midway through the second period Dustin was able to make a nice move at the blue line to get a shot on goal and have Jacob clean up the rebound to make it 1-1. However Oakville answered back quickly to make it 2-1 heading into the third period. In the third Kai had a number of chances and was able to capitalize on one of them banking a backhand shot off a defender’s skate and in the net. Regulation finished 2-2 and it was off to overtime. In overtime Grady was waiting at the far post and jumped on a rebound to put it in the open net and seal the win. Unfortunately Milton won their game so they will go on to the finals and not the Eagles. However winning an overtime game was a great way to finish the season that saw a lot of ups and downs. All the players developed their individual skills and you could see the team game coming around in the last month or so. Thanks to the coaches and players for your commitment and hard work. Can’t wait to see what next year has in store!
