We are thrilled to announce that we have committed to, once again,
supplying sizeable donations of food and funds to the Carpenter Hospice, The
Burlington Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Halton Women’s Place, the Compassion
Society and Food for Life.
Our Annual “Gift of Giving Back” not only enables us to give a sizeable donation back to our community, but more importantly, also helps us to highlight societal issues of poverty, homelessness and hunger with our kids. Let’s talk about the less-fortunate in our community and let our kids learn about compassion and kindness – we want to change lives!!
We can also make them aware of our hardworking local organizations that provide services for those people in need. Representatives from our beneficiaries will be encouraging the kids as they work in the community. Just let them know where you will be and they will be there to answer questions and thank our kids. ☺.
We are making a huge impact on our city and its citizens– not only by our generous food donations, but also by teaching our players to be caring, unselfish, community-minded people -- this is something we can all be proud of!!

To the wonderful kids that support The Gift of Giving Back:
Thanks to your incredible hard work, Food for Life received 166,000 lbs. of food from The Gift of Giving Back last year and distributed this food to over 80 community food banks across Halton, including the Burlington Food Bank and Compassion Society. This translated into nearly 170,000 meals for people in need in our community! We distributed your food donations from November through to April (it carried us through half of the year!). And we provided this food to over 12,000 people each week, of which 40% are children and youth. You fed 4,800 children in need!
22% of the people we serve are single parent families who struggle to feed their children with only one job and one income. This is why this food drive and your efforts are so incredibly important. We simply would not have enough food to provide these families and children without The Gift of Giving Back. Last year, the food drive provided us with 25% of our total non-perishable food. The significance of The Gift of Giving Back is hard for me to put into words, so I end this letter with a few quotes from some of the people we have helped thanks to the food donations you collected for us:
