WALK FOR REFUGEES
My name is Ava Walker-Edwards and I am in grade 8 at Pineland Public School. I also play for the Burlington Barracudas and am in houseleague. Two years ago my sister planned a walk for refugees to help bring a Syrian family to Burlington. We brought a family of six over - two daughters, two sons, and the mom and dad. They are doing great and our sponsorship has just recently ended. When bringing them over, we did not realize that they have an older sister who is 19 and married. She has a new baby girl.

I would like to follow in my sister's footsteps and have decided to plan another walk for refugees. The walk will raise money to bring the rest of the family over to re-unite them together. All the money raised will go to  the “Burlington Downtown Refugee Alliance” to help bring over the family. The walk is going to be Sunday, January 28th, 2018 at 3pm. We will be starting at St. Luke’s Church Parish Hall and will be ending there as well, where there will be refreshments. The walk will be 5 kilometers. I would appreciate it greatly if you could share this flyer with your contacts. I am trying to spread the word so that my walk is a success. I thank you for your support.

Thank you so much,

See you there!

Ava Walker-Edwards
