Skate To Great
National Skate Drive Comes to Burlington.
FedEx collecting and delivering skates and gently used
hockey equipment to local and Canadian youth in need.
Attention Eagles families: Time to spring clean your garage and basements!
We have been asked to participate in a national skate drive to help local and Canadian kids enjoy the pleasure of skating. Please consider donating gently used skates and equipment. Following are the details:
What:
Skate To Great is a national registered charity that is collecting skates and equipment across Canada. With the help of FedEx Canada this equipment is delivered to local and nation organizations who work with kids who don’t have the opportunity to skate. Burlington is the eight stop on a national tour (skate drives have been held to date in Montreal, Halifax, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver).
When/Where:
April 1-14 -- Equipment can be dropped off at the FedEx location in Burlington 4243 North Service Road (between Appleby and Walker’s Line-- Mon-Fri- 8:30 am-7:30 pm and Sat -12-4)
Why:
To help kids enjoy what we love doing with our families – playing on the ice.
Those who donate are encouraged to participate in a Twitter campaign to raise awareness of the skate drive so more Canadian kids can participate in our national pastime. Donors can take a picture when donating and tweet @FedExCanada using the hashtag #DonateSkates for a chance to win great prizes.
We are also looking for a few players to wear their Eagles jerseys and come out to a media event on April 7 from 11 am-noon. Please connect with Jane Wilcox (Eagles mom and coordinator of national program) to find out more information – [email protected]
