BURLINGTON RESIDENTS EMMA MALTAIS AND RENATA FAST WIN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL
The Burlington Eagles family would like to extend our congratulations to Burlington residents Renata Fast and Emma Maltais on their 2022 Winter Olympics Gold Medal win! Wednesday night/early Thursday morning the Canadian National Women’s Team defeated the United States 3-2 to win their fifth Gold Medal in the last six Winter Olympics and got revenge on the United States after their 2018 defeat.

Emma Maltais played for the Eagles from her Under-10 season through to Under-13, playing AA and AAA before going to girl’s hockey full time. Emma has made appearances for Team Canada in Under-18 World Championships registering two silver medals, as well as senior World Championships where she won the gold medal in 2021. 2022 was her first Olympic appearance, and in the seven games in the tournament she registered a goal and an assist with a +5 rating.

Renata Fast played all her minor hockey in Burlington for the Barracudas before going to Clarkson University. After four years of NCAA hockey, she played in the CWHL professional league for the Toronto Furies. Internationally she has represented Team Canada in a total of 60 games, including winning the silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. In 2022 she registered a goal and four assists in the seven games.

Congratulations again to Emma and Renata on your Gold Medal win and well done on becoming Olympic Champions!
