Please see the following information regarding the
OHF’s current expected plan for the 2021/22 minor hockey season. We anticipate
the first tryouts for our AAA Under-12 and older teams to start September 10th,
with the Under-11 and younger teams beginning September 13th. Each category
will be given seven days to complete the tryout process before moving on to the
next category. Once tryouts have been completed for a team, there will be a
week-long development phase to take place before the regular season can start.
Tryout registration will be available in June, and more information will be posted to our website once details are confirmed. If there are any updates to the seasonal structure we will update our website but for now, here is the expected information for the 2021-22 season:
U12 and older important dates
❏ U12 and above minor hockey groups will begin tryouts on the first Friday (Sept. 10) following Labour Day.
❏ Optional prep phase begins on Sept. 7 and offers a window for player/goalie development as well as checking instruction prior to tryouts beginning.
❏ Each category will start their tryouts seven days after the above category starts their tryouts

Dates to be aware of:
- Prep phase begins Sept. 7
- Evaluation phase begins Sept. 13
- Development phase begins Sept. 20
After the tryout and development phases have been completed the regular season will be eligible to start, and teams will be able to enter tournaments beginning October 8th. There will also be a Winter Break installed into the season, beginning December 21st and returning to games January 4th. The regular season will then continue through February, as meaningful hockey must be played by all OHF teams through to March 1st at the earliest. The playoffs will also see a new format this year, with tournament-style championships being introduced at the AA and A level.
