Eagles Minor Bantam A are Silver Stick International Tournament Champions
This past weekend the Eagles Minor Bantam A team competed
in the International Silver Stick Championship in Newmarket, Ontario. The Eagles entered the
tournament ranked number two in Ontario. The team opened up the tournament with
a victory over the Woodstock Jr. Vets 3-1.
On Friday, they defeated the host team Newmarket Redman 3-0 and then a
4-1 victory over the Ann Arbor Wolves of Michigan. On Saturday they won their final pool play game against the Nickel City Coyotes 2-0 which gave the Eagles a
perfect 4-0 record and first place in their pool. In the semi-finals they once again defeated Nickel City 4-0.
In the championship game against Centre Wellington, the Eagles scored late in the 3rd on the powerplay to give them a 1-0 lead. With 35 secs. left in regulation, Centre Wellington pulled their goalie; however, a second goal was scored by the Eagles to make it a solid 2-0 victory. Congratulations to the Eagles Silver Stick Champs on an excellent TEAM victory.
