The Burlington Eagles Minor Peewee A team were invited to
participate in the Elite 8 Hockey Tournament being held in Amherstburg, Ontario
this past weekend (Nov. 21-23) to compete against other OMHA Championship teams
from the 2013-2014 hockey season.
The competition was excellent. The boys played hard in every game and rose to the challenge of winning the ones that counted. They displayed hard work, determination, team work, clutch scoring, clutch defensive play and clutch goaltending. They sacrificed their bodies, advocated for their teammates and remained competitive throughout the tournament.
The tournament began with the boys winning their first game against the Riverside Rangers, with a final score of 6-1. In their second game against the home town team, Amherstburg Stars, the competition proved to be tough, resulting in a loss of 3-2. The third game proved to be just as competitive, ending in a devastating loss against Port Perry Predators, 3-1. Seeded 3rd in the tournament, the boys were faced with a rematch early Sunday morning against the Amherstburg Stars. Determined to redeem themselves, the boys rallied together to win 3-2 in overtime, knocking out the home town team. The boys made it to the final championship game to face Port Perry once again. Coded, Operation PPP (Port Perry Payback), the boys were determined to be victorious. They had an incredible come back, dominating their opponents. The game ended with a final score of 5-2 and the Burlington Eagles were able to take the Minor Peewee A Elite title once again for the second year in a row!
Congratulations to the boys on their achievement!
