A MESSAGE FROM EAGLES PRESIDENT DAVE ARMSTRONG
Hello Eagle Families and Friends

Over the past several months, our collective hockey lives have changed in ways we could never have believed. We sincerely hope that all our families are managing well.

We know that you are all anxious to get back on the ice and for hockey to resume.  We, your Eagles Executive, have been working diligently with our governing bodies to ensure we are prepared when the call comes. Please continue to follow social distancing and the prescribed guidelines for avoiding COVID spread in our community, knowing that those measures will hasten our return to the game we love.

In the meantime, we want to remind you that there is a desperate need in our community right now, as families struggle to survive this crisis.  We are very concerned about our kids right now, especially those living in families who are in despair.

We want to help all of our beneficiaries (including the Burlington Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Food for Life, the Compassion Society, Halton Women’s Shelter and the Carpenter Hospice) who give aid and comfort to our vulnerable citizen each and every day.

As we have done many times in the past, the Eagles want to answer the call and take a lead role in helping our community and the many kids that we know are suffering.

With that in mind, please come together for a food drop in the empty Burlington Centre parking lot on June 13th (rain date June 14th) to “Help Feed our Kids”.   We are inviting our Eagle families to “drive through” with food donations during the hours of 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Families will stay safely in their vehicle as volunteers unload donations.  Social distancing and strict safety protocols will be in place to ensure a contact-less drop-off process.

But that won’t prevent us from having a little fun, making lots of noise, and showing our Eagle pride!

Let’s come together as a binding force as we celebrate our club and everything we are missing! We invite our kids to gear up by wearing their sports jerseys/spirit wear, decorating their cars, making signs and creating hand-written notes and artwork that our beneficiaries can tuck into food hampers for local families.

Not only do our families need food at this time, but many – especially our kids -- are suffering from isolation, anxiety and mental health challenges.  These notes can include messages of hope such as “All in this together”, “We will all get through this”, “We are thinking of you”, “We are Burlington Strong”, “We are friends”, etc.   Burlington Centre will photograph these letters and art work to create a public mural.

While this pandemic has closed our doors, it will not prevent us from continuing to empower our athletes to compassionately give back to the wonderful community we live in

We invite you to drop by to see our community in action and for a photo op beside the Gift of Giving Back’s “Big Blue Bag”.   Please help us to come together -- invite your families and friends to bring food donations to the #HelpFeedOurKids drive-thru food drive and follow this link on social media

See you then!!
