PrintOn-Ice Volunteer Requirements

On-Ice Volunteer Insurance

All volunteers who go on the ice (including coach staff), are required to be covered by OMHA insurance.  Coaching staff and all players in the league are automatically covered.  All other volunteers who go on the ice, and this is without exception, must have this OMHA insurance arranged first.  The cost (as of 2018-19) is $20.00 and it covers the entire season.

Respect In Sport - Activity Leader

In addition to insurance, all volunteers must complete the Respect In Sport - Activity Leader course (not to be confused with the course, Respect In Sport - Parent Program).  This is an on-line course which will cost $30 + tax, and is a cost that is not refunded by the Eagles.

Gender Identity and Expression

On-ice volunteers are also now required to complete the Gender Identity and Expression course through Hockey Canada. This course is a free on-line course.

Police Check

A current police check including vulnerable sector screening is also required of all volunteers 18 years of age and older.

Police checks can be applied for online here:

Please make sure you get the one with vulnerable sector screening, it is mandatory.
Once you have received your Police check it must be scanned and uploaded using this form ‘Submit Police Check’ (please ensure the scan shows both top and bottom of page).  PDF is preferred.

If your police check was not issued in the current year, we will accept them from the previous two calendar years.  If it is from the previous two years then you will also require to submit a Criminal Offence Declaration.

Criminal Offence Declarations are found here:  https://burlingtoneagles.com/Forms/2141/Criminal_Offence_Declaration/
