13th Annual Gift of Giving Back
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!  The past two nights have been nothing short of unbelievable!  To witness the efforts, big and small, from our Eagles players, families, and coaching staff, has been a privilege.  Our Eagles families led the food drive yet again contributing a whopping 75% of the total 601,639 pounds of food.

We were assisted by the staff and students of Robert Bateman High School, who not only opened up their school and gym to us, but also contributed food and cash as well!  The logistics of this venue were fantastic.  And in addition to Robert Bateman High School, several feeder schools joined the drive this year.  A shout out to Assumption and Corpus Christi High Schools, and to CH Norton, Mohawk Gardens, Pauline Johnson and Frontenac Public Schools  The Burlington Barracudas were amazing partners (as always!), and we were joined by the Burlington Fire Department, Burlington Gymnastics Club, and BOMBA.  A thank you to Rotary North Burlington for supplying volunteers, and to Harrigan Hockey, King Paving, and the Burlington Downtown Business Association for their support.  We also received incredible support from some key sponsors – the Burlington Mall, Blue Hippo Marketing & Promotions, Team Logue – Re/Max Escarpment Team Logue Realty Inc.  Rogers Hometown Hockey gave us national coverage as well this year, for which we are eternally grateful.

A huge thank you to Tania Lee, our lead volunteer, to Michelle Wagg who coordinated the volunteers onsite, to Tracy Pecyna who ran the team photos, keeping everyone on schedule, to Darlene Monteith, Tanya Lockwood, and Jana Garratt who ran the tally table all night long, to Paul Hatanaka who handled our takedown, and to our convenors and executive who coordinated outdoor logistics at Robert Bateman.  And more importantly, to each and every one of our Eagles families who bagged groceries, tagged in front of stores and GO stations, who held garage sales, raffles, and bottle drives, who rallied their contacts and asked for donations, and who donated food and money themselves.  You are the driving force behind the Gift of Giving Back.  You can all rest easy tonight and be so proud of what you have done for your community.

While we are truly proud of our collective effort, we want to take a minute to acknowledge our top 10 Eagles teams who really went above and beyond.

Congratulations to you all.  It’s a great day to be an Eagle!
