Minor Midget AA-Gold - Minor Midget AA Gold are Richmond Hill Early Bird Champs!
Submitted By John McNeil on Monday, September 11, 2017
The Minor Midget AA Gold Burlington Eagles went to Richmond Hill over the weekend and won the Mary Parkinson Memorial Richmond Hill AA Early Bird Tournament!

The Minor Midget squad started off strong with a solid 3-1 victory over the Vaughan Panthers.

In the 'Friday Night Primetime Game from the Barn' the Eagles dominated play and showed the Shamrocks that they ain't so lucky and blanked them 3-0.

Saturday saw another shut-out victory (4-0) over the Newmarket Redmen, followed by a late afternoon brawl with the Duffield Devils. That game was a bruising affair that went the Eagles way as they scored with 1.6 seconds left to secure a 3-2 victory and a bye to the semi-finals on Sunday.

In the Sunday Semi-Final the Eagles faced off against the Streetsville Tigers. The Eagles were well rested and might have played their best game of the tournament shutting out the Tigers with a 4-0 win.

The finals saw the Eagles pitted against their biggest rival, the Oakville Rangers. In what was a close game and seemingly headed for OT, the Eagles scored the winning goal with about a minute and half to play. A 2-1 victory to down their rival and claim the tournament title.

The Eagles proved they are soaring high with stellar goaltending, great defence and lots of scoring touch up front.

A tournament record of 6 & 0, well done!

Congrats to the Minor Midget AA Gold Eagles, the 2017 Richmond Hill Mary Parkinson Memorial Early Bird AA Tournament Champions!
