Submitted By Admin on Friday, January 8, 2016
On Monday , January 11th, at 7pm, the Burlington Eagles are pleased to announce that Canisius College Head Hockey Coach Dave Smith will join us at Central Auditorium for an information session about both the Canisius hockey program and to provide an overview on general NCAA –related considerations for our Eagles graduates to consider.

We would like to invite our Minor Bantam, Bantam, Minor Midget and Midget aged players, their parents, coaches, convenors, executive, and team staff to join us for this informative evening.

Coach Smith will discuss a number of items including:

·         Maintaining NCAA D1 eligibility (ohl/pro 48 hour rule explained),

·         NCAA Compliance (regulations),

·         NCAA Clearinghouse (SAT exams), and

·         Other items Coach Smith feels are important for players and their families to know about NCAA.

We will also have a Q and A session with Coach Smith at the end of his presentation to the Eagles to discuss NCAA hockey.

About Dave Smith:

Dave Smith is in his 11th season as head coach of the Golden Griffin program.

Smith has enjoyed a number of memorable moments during his coaching tenure and has continued to raise the bar while leading the Canisius program. Most recently, Smith has led the Griffs to three-straight trips to Atlantic Hockey Championship weekend for the first time in school history, including consecutive appearances in the title and the teams first crown in 2013. The program has also received national attention with its graduates having unprecedented success at the professional level.  Smith graduated from Ohio State University in 1992 with a bachelors degree in journalism/public relations and was a four-year letterwinner with the Buckeyes.  After graduating from Ohio State, Smith spent 6 seasons in professional hockey, including the AHL, IHL, and the ECHL. In addition to his responsibilities at Canisius, Smith serves on the board of College Hockey Inc. Smith and his wife Susan have two daughters, and Susan is the Director for Interdisciplinary Degree Programs at the University at Buffalo.
