Congratulations
to our Under 13 A Gold team for winning the Doug Robinson All Star Challenge in
West Niagara last weekend! The Eagles went undefeated in their five games to
clinch the title in their second trip this season to a tournament gold medal
game.
Winning all three of their round robin games against Garden City
(5-1), Orillia (3-1), and the Markham Islanders (3-1), the Eagles advanced as
the top seed in their group to the semi-finals to play against the Barrie
Colts. Up against the Colts who are sitting at the top of their league
standings, the Eagles went up 2-0, and held off an empty net push from the
Colts and won the game 2-1 to advance to the championship!
In the championship game the Eagles came up
against the host West Niagara Flying Aces. After falling behind 1-0 late in the
first period, the Eagles tied the game near the end of the second. No goals in
the third meant the championship would be going to overtime, where the Eagles
scored on 17 seconds in the extra frame! Congratulations to all the players,
coaches, and parents on a fantastic weekend and good luck as you enter the
playoffs next week!
