The
Burlington Eagles would like to congratulate our Under 13 AAA Eagles for
winning the 2023-24 Jackson Weis Memorial Tournament in Sylvania, Ohio this
past weekend!
The U13 AAA Eagles travelled to Sylvania, Ohio just outside
of Toledo to participate in the Jackson Weis Memorial Tournament which has been
going on since 2014. Jackson tragically lost his life at the age of 10, and the
tournament helps raise money for the Jackson Weis Youth Athletic Achievement
Fund that was started by Jackson’s family to help kids and families who otherwise
wouldn’t get a chance to play hockey.
The Eagles finished third of the six participating teams in
the round robin to advance to the semi-finals with a tie against the Cleveland
Barons 2-2, defeating the Columbus Capitals 7-0, and losing to the Sylvania
North Stars 4-3.
A rematch against Sylvania in the semi-final ended in a 3-2
win for the Eagles to advance to the finals against the Carshield AAA Hockey
Club, whom they defeated 2-1 in the finals to win the tournament!
Everyone at the Eagles would like to congratulate the
players, coaching staff, and parents of the U13 AAA for a terrific weekend in
Ohio, and for donating a tremendous amount towards the Jackson Weis YAAF. Thank
you for representing the Eagles well, and good luck in the upcoming season!
