Two Eagles teams won their tournaments this weekend – the U11
AA Gold was victorious in Ajax/Pickering at the AA Classic, and our U16 AA Gold
have successfully won the Stratford Silver Stick Regional tournament to qualify
for the International Silver Stick Finals in Newmarket from January 26th-29th.
Our U11 AA Gold team entered the Ajax/Pickering AA Classic after winning two of their last three regular season games, and carried that momentum right into the Friday. Winning both round robin games on Friday against Ajax/Pickering and Caledon, 7-2 and 5-1 respectively. Continuing the unbeaten streak, the Eagles tied Ottawa Valley 4-4 and then defeating Clarington 5-0 to finish 2nd in the group on goal difference alone behind Ottawa Valley.
Coming up against Kingston in the semi-finals, the Eagles finished the game with a 4-1 victory, earning a rematch against Ottawa Valley. With a shutout victory of 3-0, the U11 AA Gold Eagles came out the champions of the Ajax/Pickering AA Classic! Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on a fantastic weekend!
The U16 AA Gold Eagles went to Stratford to compete in the Regional Silver Stick Qualifier on the back of a 4-1-1 regular season record along with a semi-final appearance in Ottawa two weeks prior. Winning both games on Friday against Glancaster and the Mississauga Terriers 4-1 and 2-1 respectively earned them a spot in the semi-finals. In the last round robin game, the Eagles fell to hosts Stratford 3-1 to finish 2nd in the group.
With a semi-final game against Guelph who have an identical record in the U16 Tri-County regular season, the Eagles came through with a 4-2 victory to make the finals against the Hamilton Huskies who defeated Stratford in the other semi-final. With a tight 1-0 victory over the Huskies, our U16 AA Gold Eagles won the Silver Stick Qualifer and will progress to the International Finals in January! Congratulations to the players and coaching staff and good luck in Newmarket for the Silver Stick Finals!
