The Burlington Eagles family would like to extend our
congratulations to the U14 AA Gold Eagles team! This past weekend the Eagles
went to Newmarket to compete in the International Silver Stick Finals and were
victorious with a 4-2 win over the Gloucester Rangers in the final.
After winning the Georgina Regional Silver Stick Qualifier in early December, the Eagles entered the International Finals in the middle of a 10-game win streak in their Tri-County Playoffs. With a tie, a win, and a loss in their first three games, a win against the North York Knights in the cross-over game guaranteed the Eagles to advance to the semi-finals.
Coming up against the Ottawa Sting, the Eagles pulled off a 4-0 win to advance to the finals against Gloucester. Despite falling behind 1-0 after the first period, the Eagles rallied together three straight goals to start the second period and never gave up the lead again. Gloucester brought the score to 3-2 near the end of the second, but the two-goal lead was restored only 30 seconds into the 3rd period for a final score of 4-2.
Congratulations again Eagles! The U14 AA Gold hope to continue their momentum from the tournament win as they have already advanced through to the Tri-County Championship weekend that will take place March 25th-27th in Halton Hills.
