Congratulations on our Under 18 AAA team for their
tournament win in Sudbury! The team won the Big Nickel Tournament with a 7-0 record,
outscoring their opposition by a total of 31-9.
The Eagles swept the round robin with victories over Sudbury (5-1), Timmins (7-1), London (3-1), and the Mississauga Rebels (4-2). Moving on to the quarter finals Saturday night, the Eagles then defeated the Toronto Young Nationals 4-2 to advance to Sunday’s games.
Sunday morning saw the Eagles take on the Toronto Marlboros in the semi-finals, defeating them 4-2 on a goal with less than three minutes left by Luke Johnston, followed by another goal by Luke with 1:04 left in the 3rd period as an insurance marker, progressing the Eagles to the Gold Medal game Sunday afternoon.
Coming up against the also undefeated Peterborough Petes, the Eagles put together a complete game; scoring in all three periods and shutting out Peterborough 4-0 to win the Sudbury Big Nickel Tournament! Two goals from each of Aiden Treanor and Luke Johnston, and a shutout from Vlad Visan secured the championship for the Eagles.
Congratulations to our U18 AAA Eagles, along with Mark Corbett and the rest of the coaching staff on their victory this weekend!
