BURLINGTON EAGLES NAME 2020-21 AAA HEAD COACHES

The Burlington Eagles are very proud to announce our head coaching staff for our AAA teams entering the 2020-21 hockey season!

Under-10 AAA (Minor Atom) - Paul Robbins ([email protected]): Paul’s passion for the game started in Burlington playing AAA with the Eagles for his minor hockey career.

He has coached the last 4 years with the Eagles starting from Junior Eagles to Minor Atom. He has also coached rep lacrosse and won provincials.

He prides himself on developing hockey players not just on the ice but off the ice as well. His high intensity practices and attention to detail provides support to get young hockey players to elevate their game to the next level.  Paul is a big believer of team unity, positive atmosphere and is still friends with many of his minor hockey teammates still to this day. 

Under-11 AAA (Atom) - Phil Kavanagh ([email protected]):         Phil is very excited to be returning to coach the Atom AAA team in 2020/21; his 10th season with the Eagles organization.   His full-time job as the Head Golf Professional at Islington Golf Club also allows him the time to work the bench with the Nelson Flames hockey team.




Under-12 AAA (Minor Peewee) - Terry Willis ([email protected]):       Terry and his wife Alison have been residents of Burlington for over 25 years raising 3 boys and a daughter. All the boys played hockey for the Burlington Eagles at various levels throughout their childhood. Terry played minor hockey in the then MTHL, then in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes and finally with the University of Guelph where he played in 2 National Championships. Terry is passionate about coaching and giving back to the game that treated him and his family so well.


Under-13 AAA (Peewee) - Jonah Gould ([email protected]):     Jonah has been Burlington born and raised. Grew up in the Burlington Eagles organization before playing for his high school team at M.M. Robinson. He moved away to Halifax to attend Dalhousie University where he joined a Junior C team which ended up winning their Maritime championship that year.

Jonah returns as a head coach for his third year of coaching with the Eagles organization. With a focus on player development on and off the ice, Jonah loves being at the rink and continuing to develop hockey players at a young age to grow up to become strong players and strong individuals.

Under-14 AAA (Minor Bantam) - John Lang ([email protected]):       John has a wealth of experience as a hockey coach, including seven years as a Junior A coach, nine years as a power skating instructor, five years as a development instructor for professional players, and 26 years overall with coaching experience.




Under-15 AAA (Bantam) - Vince Cianciolo ([email protected]):     Vince played AAA hockey for the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs, and the Jr. C Glanbrook Rangers.  Going into the 13th year of coaching, including time with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs, Niagara North Stars, Brock Badgers University Women's Hockey, and Burlington Eagles.




Under-16 AAA (Minor Midget) - Alex Davies ([email protected]):        Alex spent his minor hockey career playing in the GTHL and played with the likes of Tyler Seguin, Ryan Ellis, Ryan O’Reilly, Casey Cizikas and more. His most successful season as a player was a part of the Under-21 AAA Mississauga Braves team where they won the season, playoffs and capped it off with an OHF championship.

He has spent the last 3 seasons with the 2005 Burlington Eagles AAA team, 2 of them as the assistant coach and last year as the head coach.

Under-18 AAA (Midget) - Ethan Lyons ([email protected]):      Ethan is a Burlington Eagles alumni. Upon graduating from Minor Hockey Ethan went on to play 2 seasons for the OJHL Jr A Streetsville Derbys, and a season with the Cambridge Winterhawks Jr B franchise of the GOJHL. During his time with Cambridge, Ethan was frequently involved in the community visiting schools and teaching hockey in gym classes, all the while building a passion for coaching. His efforts on and off the ice resulted in Ethan being awarded the Margaret Hofstetter Trophy as the Winterhawks “Unsung Hero”.

Currently he serves as the Head Coach of the 2019/20 Midget AAA team.  

Ethan believes in creating a strong Team Culture that produces an environment for both individual and team development combined with promoting positive habits both on and off the ice.  Behaviours which will benefit young athletes, not only as they pursue hockey but will be cornerstones in all aspects of their lives pursuits.
