**In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and OHF hockey restrictions on all 2020 hockey activities, the Golden Horseshoe Committee will delay receiving applications for the Bruce Boettenger Scholarship until later this year.
We will provide updates on the application process as we receive OHF guidance for 2020.**
In honour of the 28th anniversary of the Burlington Golden Horseshoe Hockey Tournament in 1995 an Annual Scholarship Award was established by the Golden Horseshoe Tournament Committee.
The Bruce Boettger Scholarship award for 2020 will be the 26th year of the Award. The scholarship is awarded each year to a Burlington hockey player (male of female) that has demonstrated excellence and is eligible to attend a Canadian or American institute granting a Bachelor’s degree or a Canadian College granting a technologist diploma for three years.
The $1,000 per year Scholarship Award is renewable annually for a maximum of four years toward a Bachelor’s degree and three years towards a technologist diploma.
To be eligible the applicant must have played five (5) years of minor Hockey in Burlington and demonstrated excellence in the game. Have graduated from a Burlington high school, or private school, with a good academic and disciplinary record. Have demonstrated good sportsmanship and citizenship respectively in their hockey play and community life.
Within a reasonable time after being selected for the award, they shall verify their acceptance for the 2020 -2021 year at an institute of higher learning.

Further $1,000 cheques shall be forwarded by August annually as required by the Scholarship contract
The successful candidate to provide the Chairman a summary of the Scholarships Impact on their continuing education. The candidate approves the use of their application information/photos for promotional purposes by the Golden Horseshoe Committee.
Selection of the successful candidate, and approved by the GHT Committee, shall be final.
