The Burlington Eagles would like to extend our
congratulations to the Under 10 AA team for winning the Tri-County
Championships last night!
The U10 AA team has had an incredibly successful season to
date. They finished 1st overall in the Tri-County Regular Season
with 50 points in 26 games, only losing once all season and finishing with 13
more points than 2nd place!
They were also finalists in the Orangeville Fall Classic in
their Early Bird tournament before the season, they won their Silver Stick
Qualifier, and finally won the Kirk Kelly Memorial Tournament in Newmarket in
December.
Going undefeated through the Tri-County round robin portion
in eight games, the Eagles then defeated Garden City in the quarter-final 10-1,
beat Brampton 7-1 in the semi-finals to come up against Hespeler in the
championship game last night.
Getting up 1-0 near the end of the first, and then extending
the lead to 3-0 before the end of the second period put the Eagles in a good
position to clinch the title. However, a strong push from Hespeler in the 3rd
period brought them within one goal with seven minutes to play, however the
Eagles held them off the rest of the way to take the championship 3-2!
Congratulations to the U10 AA players, coaches, and parents
on what has been a great season so far, and we cannot wait to cheer you on in
the OMHA Championships in Oakville on the April 5th-7th
weekend!
