This past weekend the Global Fuel Minor PeeWee AA Blue Eagles came together and played their best hockey this season at the Mississauga Blackhawks tournament at Iceland Arena.
The weekend started with a 3-0 victory over the host team, the Mississauga Blackhawks. That afternoon the Eagles would suffer their only loss of the round robin to the Milton Winterhawks, a team they play during the regular season.
Saturday morning the team came back to the rink to play one of their best games this year. They beat the tournament undefeated Vaughn Panthers with a 2-0 win. They showed outstanding team work and never stopped skating. The passing, forechecking and backchecking was second to none, they showed just how well they can play as a team. The final game of the round robin was against the Orillia Terriers, another victory for the Eagles with a 4-1 win.
The Eagles placed first overall and were scheduled to play the Milton Winterhawks in the semi-final. After a hard-fought battle, the Eagles succumbed to a 4-3 loss. Although they were disappointed they should be proud of their efforts and their overall performance this weekend. They were the only team that defeated the tournament champions, Vaughn Panthers
