The Burlington
Global Fuels Atom AA BLUE Eagles have had a very successful playoff
run.
After finishing the
season in seventh place, these Eagles knew that they were better than seventh and were going to prove it in the next two months. At the end
of the OMHA Preliminaries they were tied for first in their group and
were forced into a tiebreaker with the Oakville Rangers. Having home
ice advantage for the tiebreaker didn’t help Oakville, Burlington
beat them 3-2 to earn a spot in OMHA Quarter-finals.
Facing the Atom AA Gold team in the OMHA Quarterfinals was a fight. Blue was up 1-0 at the beginning of the series and after four games the series was tied, 2-2. Game five would be the decider. In a disappointing finish, Blue lost 4-2 to Gold, but were still able to make their way back into the Tri-County play-offs. It was an intense and exciting series.
The Tri-County play-offs proved to be a very busy couple of weeks. They played six games in thirteen days which gave these Eagles the drive they needed to win their group and move on to the Tri-County Championship Series. With a 5-1 record they are moving ahead to play the Guelph Gryphons.
Good luck in the Championship! You got this!
