Minor Peewee AAA - 2016 Wally Beavis Memorial Tournament Champions
The Minor Peewee AAA team put
together an impressive undefeated 5-0-1 record to win the 35th Annual Wally Beavis
Memorial Tournament in Peterborough this past weekend.
The tournament started with a close hard fought 3-3 tie with host Peterborough Petes. The boys then went on to dominate the next 3 round robin games out scoring their opponents 19-4. The boys continued to play well and our work their opponent and won the semi-final game 5-0. In the championship game they met up again with the strong Peterborough Petes. With memory of finishing second fresh in their minds from the Markham Majors tournament just 5 weeks earlier, the boys came out strong and determined to win but the Petes were not going to give in and wanted to win their own tournament. The game was tied 2-2 at the end of the second. The Eagles were able to score 2 more times in the third and managed to hold off the Peterborough team to take the championship. Congratulations to all the players on the team and the coaches on a well deserved and long time coming championship.
