How A Long Time Eagles’ Hockey Family Turns Their Loss Into Winning.
As a long time Eagles’ family, each of our 4 sons played many years of rep hockey. They all experienced success and the disappointment of being reassigned, but above all they loved the game.

November 2012 my wife Andrea and I lost our youngest son, Tyler at age 31, to depression and suicide… our family was totally blindsided.

Depression is a terrible disease and affects so many families. I can’t tell you how many people, friends, business associates, neighbours, even perfect strangers have come up to us sharing their personal stories… its everywhere and can’t be ignored.

As part of our way of dealing with Ty’s death, his 3 older brothers, Justin, Matt and Ryan suggested we organize a hockey tournament in his memory and Ty’s Tourney came into being.

Over the last 4 years, the support we’ve received has been overwhelming and Ty’s Tourney has been able to donate in excess of $100,000 to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Once again, Saturday April 22 at the Wave Twin Rinks, Ty’s Tourney will host 156 adult hockey players in a one day event. The caliber of players ranges from pros and ex pros from Canada and Europe, ex college players and many who played junior, rep and high school… competitive but fun.

But a tourney like this needs your support.

We need volunteers, silent auction prizes, raffle prizes and swag gifts for 156 bags and of course financial support is huge… we are so grateful for anything you can do… donate, volunteer, come and bid on our great prizes, everyone is welcome and above all, don’t be afraid to talk about mental health.
